ENHANCE press review
The ENHANCE press review collected reports, articles and videos that mentioned the project, from a UNISDR report on disaster resilience in Europe to German and Portuguese coverage of its case studies.
The ENHANCE press review gathered articles and videos in which the project was mentioned. Five entries were listed:
- “Building Resilience to Disasters in Europe”, the annual report of the UNISDR office for Europe. It put the ten-year average of disaster losses in Europe at USD 13.4 billion and described Europe as the third most affected region.
- A project profile by the Wadden Sea Forum, titled “Enhancing risk management partnerships for catastrophic natural hazards in Europe”. The forum was itself a partner in the Wadden Sea case study.
- A German-language piece, “Flutversicherung: Wie der Staat und die Versicherer zusammenkommen können”, on a workshop on flood insurance held at Munich Re. The title asks how the state and insurers can come together on flood cover.
- An interview in Água & Ambiente, a Portuguese monthly on water and the environment, with the Portuguese partners ISA-UTL and Metacortex.
- A page by ISA on the Portuguese case study on insurance and forest fire resilience.
The list shows where the project found an audience outside academic journals. Two of the five entries come from Portugal, and both concern the forest fire case in Chamusca. The German piece concerns the question that ran through the whole project: how public authorities and private insurers can share the cost of floods.
