D3.1 Report: Inventory of existing risk scenarios
Deliverable D3.1, due in September 2013, gathered the hazard data, spatial datasets and socio-economic projections the ENHANCE case studies would need to build scenarios of future risk.
- Deliverable: D3.1, report, work package 3
- Full title: Inventory existing risk scenarios
- Named on the record: no author or uploader printed
- Timing: delivery month 10, which corresponds to September 2013 (project month 1 being December 2012); no version number printed
Work package 3 of ENHANCE dealt with risk scenarios: how hazards and exposure might develop over coming decades. D3.1 was its starting inventory. It listed three kinds of existing material:
- hazard data;
- spatial datasets;
- socio-economic projections.
The purpose was practical. The case studies needed scenario information and projections of future risk, and it made more sense to start from what already existed than to build every dataset from scratch. A scenario of flood risk in London or drought in the Júcar basin depends as much on where people will live and what they will own as on rainfall, which is why the inventory paired hazard data with socio-economic projections.
The report was among the publications listed in the January 2015 roundup (video and publications record). Its methods connect to the work on copulas and dependent hazards described in the second Letter from Sendai (no. 2), which also drew on the project’s risk assessment strand. Related terms, such as exposure and vulnerability, are defined in the glossary.
The report is listed in the document library.
